This corner of SLJ’s blogging community sits at the intersection of cultural institutions, social justice, and inclusivity. Edith Campbell is a gardener, quilter, and grandmother. She’s also a Research and Instruction librarian in the Cunningham Memorial Library at Indiana State University. She earned a BA in Economics from the University of Cincinnati, and an MLS from Indiana University – Indianapolis, where she also adjuncts. Edith is a founding member of the We Are Kidlit Summer Reading List, and of See What We See. In 2016, she served as a Faculty Fellow to the ISU Faculty Center for Teaching Excellence’s Multicultural Curriculum Learning Community. She has served on the Printz Committee, the Robert F. Sibert Medal Committee, WNDB’s Walter Award Committee, YALSA’s Best Fiction for Young Adults Committee, and the CYBILS Nonfiction Awards committee. Alia Jones is a MLIS student at UW-Madison, focusing on children’s literature and youth services. She is a member of ALSC and has served on the Caldecott Award Committee and Coretta Scott King Book Award Jury. She cares deeply about diversity in children’s literature, helping children find comfort in books, and informal learning spaces. She blogs at www.readitrealgood.com. Sujei Lugo, a former elementary school librarian in Puerto Rico, is a children’s librarian at the Boston Public Library, Connolly Branch. She holds an MLIS from the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus, and a Ph.D. in LIS from Simmons University. She is an independent scholar, book reviewer, and active member of REFORMA (National Association to Promote Library & Information Services to Latinos and the Spanish Speaking), ALSC (Association for Library Services to Children), and the We Are Kid Lit Collective. She is the co-author of Islas Lectoras: bibliografía crítica de literatura infantil puertorriqueña (2000-2020), a bibliographic source focused on Puerto Rican children’s literature published in the last two decades.
